 International Dance Competition-Festival “BALTIC AMBER LIEPĀJA 2026” 

Friday, October 23, 2026,  “Liepājas latviešu biedrības nams” palace in the city center of Liepāja. The festival begins at 1:00 p.m. 

I. PARTICIPANTS Children's, youth and adult dance groups and groups are invited to participate in the competition-festival. Performances of various dance styles are accepted: contemporary dance (Contemporary / Modern); folk and stylized folk dance (Folk Dance); street dance (Street Dance / Hip-Hop); entertainment and sports dances; line dance (Line Dance); show dance (Show Dance); fashion / stage dances; Jazz Dance; Character Dance; Majorettes; Cheerleading / Pom Dance; Classical Dance and Ballet; Other Dance Styles and Their Combinations. In the LIVE competition, the group must consist of at least 5 dancers.

II. AGE CATEGORIES KIDS MINI / Žirniukai – 2–6 years; KIDS / Children – 7–10 years; TEENS / Young – 11–15 years; YOUTH / Youth – 16–25 years; ADULTS / Adults – 26 years and older. If the group includes dancers of different ages, the category is determined by the age of the majority of the group members. The organizers reserve the right to combine categories or divide them into additional groups.

III. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Each group may present one or two dances in the competition. The duration of one competitive dance is up to 5 minutes. The dance repertoire, choreography, costumes, stage image and presentation of the work must meet the age of the performers and the general aesthetic requirements of the stage. The musical work must be sent in advance by e-mail: terrastrum@gmail.com. Indicate the name of the collective, the name of the dance and the age category in the letter. It is recommended to have a backup copy of the music recording on a USB drive upon arrival. Decorations and stage props are allowed if they can be quickly and safely set up and removed. The use of fire, pyrotechnics, liquids, loose materials or other unsafe props is prohibited.

IV. EVALUATION AND AWARDS The performances will be evaluated by a professional jury consisting of professionals in dance, choreography, performing arts and other related fields. The following are evaluated: performance technique; choreography and dance idea; musicality; synchronicity and group integrity; stage culture; costumes and aesthetic presentation; originality; overall artistic impression. I, II and III places are awarded in the categories. The GRAND PRIX of the competition-festival is also selected. The jury may award special nominations. Each participating group is awarded with diplomas / certificates of appreciation from the organizers and established prizes.

V. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION – LIVE Registration is open until October 18, 2026 on the website www.terrastrum.com. Registration may be closed earlier if the maximum number of participants is reached. 1 dance – 14 Eur per dancer. 2 dances – 18 Eur per dancer. The participation fee can be paid by bank transfer or upon arrival at the festival during registration. Information about payment by bank transfer is provided to registered groups.

VI. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION – VIRTUAL / ONLINE You can also participate in the international competition in the VIRTUAL / ONLINE category. In the virtual category, the group must consist of at least 3 dancers. Registration is open until October 18, 2026 on the website www.terrastrum.com. The video can be submitted via WeTransfer or by submitting a YouTube link by e-mail to terrastrum@gmail.com. The entire performance of the group must be clearly visible in the video. The virtual competition participant fee is 9 EUR per dancer per dance.

VII. COMPETITION PROGRAM Friday, October 23, 2026. The start of the competition-festival is at 1:00 p.m. The detailed program, registration and arrival time, order of performances and other organizational information will be prepared after registration and sent to the groups via their specified contacts. The organizers reserve the right to adjust the order of performances and the competition program if necessary for the smooth organization of the event.

IX. PARTICIPANTS’ RESPONSIBILITY For the health, safety and behavior of minor participants during the event, the accompanying leaders, educators, parents or other responsible persons are responsible. The leader of the collective is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in the registration form. Participants and their leaders must comply with the security and internal order requirements established by the event organizers and the concert hall.

X. FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY Photography and filming may be performed during the competition-festival. Photos and video materials of the event may be used for information, communication and publicity purposes of the competition-festival “BALTIC AMBER”, the organizer “Terra Astrum” and future events.
